The girls went to Pluto with their elementary school. These are their high tech astronaut suits, duh. They've been working on it all year. Each grade had a design aspect. Kindergarten had to figure out how to grow food on Pluto for a year, and second graders had to build sustainable housing to deal with the frigid temperature on Pluto. Here's a link with the news story (if you care).
Here they are in Central Command, their government building. The kids *loved* this project.
Annika working on the poster for her "Special Person" day at school, where she identified scoor as her favorite sport, wudr pets as her favorite TV show and Arshr as her best friend.
Clifton's coaching Annika's spring soccer team again. So far both games have been snowed out. Welcome to March.
We had the Harteminks over for a family birthday dinner for Naomi.
I mostly just love Jeremy's face in this picture. I'm inviting him to every party from now on if he's going to be that enthusiastic about my pretty shabby looking cakes.
Yep, eight. Eight!
For her party she and friends went to see Zootopia. Naomi rode in the front seat for the first time, which is apparently a big deal.
Clifton stayed home with Sarah. Next time I might get a babysitter for Sarah to have another adult along.
They were actually pretty good once we were all in seats.
I wasn't going to take on the photo booth at the theater (can you imagine?), so once we came home, we made our own.
Apparently bunny ears are still a thing.
Making pizzas for dinner.
...and more cake. Man did we have cake.
The girls made these hats (because something's gotta keep them busy). Actually this party was on daylight saving's time night, so I set the clocks ahead way early when they weren't looking and they totally fell for it and were in bed at 9 (thinking it was 10pm)! It's probably my best parenting move in the past eight years.
...because we've entered the age that you can only bribe them to take a good picture if it's followed by a silly one.
So the fan/vent in our kitchen is non-functional. And every time I make Dutch pancakes our (way too sensitive) smoke detector goes off. Our kids know to ignore smoke detectors, but the other girls insisted on making this a full fire drill at 8am in the freezing cold.
When your birthday falls on a Wednesday, this is where we spend it.
Out for dinner after ballet. Somewhere along the line it became bearable to go to restaurants with our kids. It's a nice change.
Jess has been taking the girls out on dates to spend time with each of them since she's probably moving this summer and they won't see her as much. (We could not love Jess more.)
Our babysitter's entire house was down with influenza so Jess's mom watched the girls one day. When Naomi and Annika got off to school, Sarah got to go to their house and work on the farm.
Finnigan might be the most obese pig in the world. And that's saying something.
The blizzard that probably even made your news. Work closed, but not until 1pm (pretty much at the height of the storm). I am from Florida. And even though most of my driving life has been in the snow, there was no way I was driving the van home. So Clifton came by my work and traded me cars. And here he is stuck on our road. Fortunately we have amazing neighbors and at one point six people were shoveling out the road to get the van in our driveway. Okay, five really since I stopped to take this picture.
The snowblower? It was like the van. It took one look at the snow and quit. We spent an hour and a half out there together shoveling to clear the driveway. It was a little nuts.
Snow did not deter us from our spring fun run with 100 mile club!
Dogs? Horses? I don't know. We are all kinds of animals in this house.
Sarah insisted she give Clifton a ride the same way.
Easter morning!
Much better in the shade.
The Parsons came over for an Easter egg hunt and dinner.
Egg hunting...
Hiding white eggs in white snow to add to the challenge.
Note to self: remember to use this in wedding slideshow in 2036.
The kid table gets more kids every year.
And we get more peace and quiet.

I just want to say that 1), there is not a single time that you post one of these that does not make my heart ache with missing you guys, 2) that one photo of Sarah working on the farm looks like she is vomiting a very concentrated stream into that bucket, and 3) I read something about Dutch Pancakes and somehow managed to not make a joke involving Dutch Ovens.
Beautiful Easter dresses! In the picture with Jeremy's excitement over the cake, Naomi reminds me of Clifton for the first time. Usually, I see you in her face. In the sweet picture of Annika & Asher, Annika's big smile reminds me so much of her Grandma Re! Thank you for spending precious time posting pictures and writing wonderful & hilarious comments.
