March 2018

Spring soccer in  Longmont. Sometimes you still need your snow gear.

And a couple days later, this is what spring looks like.... It's still only 67 degrees, but anything above 60 after winter means swimsuits are coming out.

Clifton went skiing with the girls a few times this month. Naomi likes to go slow and steady. Annika just likes to go.

Sarah took lessons and was pretty psyched to finally get to use the lift.

Joint birthday celebrations for Timothy and Naomi.

Who doesn't need a giant llama (and a little hedgehog) for their birthday?

Fleshpile!

Oh man, we watched Jack (the Parsons' dog) for a weekend. A dog has never received so much attention. We watched him looking out a window.

Naomi tried to make the argument that Jack helped her focus when working on her math. (Next thing we know she'll need an emotional support dog.)

If it were up the girls, we'd have a dog. Clifton's the hold out... They're working on him.

We blinked and we had a ten year old.

We celebrated Naomi's birthday by going to her first concert in Ft. Collins.

The Oh Hellos are a super fun band to see in concert.

I spent years as Steve and Suzi's third wheel. It felt like the good old days.

Val found this cake on pinterest and we knew it had to be.

We did a pancakes and pajamas theme. Because it meant I got to wear pajamas. And who doesn't love pancakes?

A toast to Naomi!

After breakfast we did our own little escape room game. It took them two hours but they escaped!

Do not step in the way of Annika and her style sense.

Naomi's been waiting for years to turn ten so she could get her ears pierced. So we did it that weekend. Her friend Mac wanted to come along as moral support. Mac was more stressed than Naomi. Here she is holding her hands while trying to bolt from the room at the same time.

Soccer's in full swing. It's really fun to watch Annika play.

Sarah's still mostly in it for the snacks at the end of the game. Duh.

So we have a pet mouse. We didn't mean to have a pet mouse. The snakes refused to eat her. So the girls named her Lucky and she's a part of the family. Then the girls thought we should get a boy mouse. So we could have baby mice. So far, no baby mice. Just some mouse cannibalism. Good times in the Railsback home.

It's hard to not want to shoot hoops during March Madness.

Annika went with a friend to see the Dead Sea Scrolls in Denver over spring break.

First fishing of the season. Sarah's still working on technique. You might think she's reeling in a huge one, but she's not. Probably just some seaweed.

We did eventually have some good catches.

Unfortunately Naomi became something of a fish rights activist and made us put the fish back.

I left for five minutes to get something from the car and came back to Annika with a fish. Thankful for kind strangers who helped her get the fish off her line and took this picture for me.

Sarah is super psyched that she finally made it across the monkey bars!

This day Clifton went skiing with just Annika.

She did her first blacks with him (this isn't one of them).

Sarah was the only one in her class, so gave her teacher a run for her money.

And one more ski day. The last one of the season.

Sarah did her first day without lessons.

Annika and Asher raced down the mountain and through the trees. She told me she did a somersault once and lost both of her skis. It's probably best that I'm not there for this.

Amelia and Naomi took it easy together with Sarah...

Now we're ready for summer!
