September 2020

Oh yes it did. Snow. September 9.

Too bad that virtual learning means no snow days. For the record, our kids do have shoes.

Annika (still into all things Hamilton) turned TEN this month!

Which meant that we had to go THAT DAY to get her ears pierced. This is mid-pierce. The girl didn't even flinch beause she wanted it so much.

Because she had a soccer game and tournament an hour and a half south of us the next day, we went a hotel in Denver for the evening and celebrated there.

Change on the drive from one game to the next.

I just love watching this girl play.

Then back to the hotel for some pool time.

And drinking Shirley Temples, a first.

And piling in together to watch a show.

We also walked around Denver which we haven't done a lot with the kids.

Checking out the landmarks

Naomi and her friends were playing together and then came down like this, as Trump, Melania and secret service. I mean, it's not bad.

Sarah's met her snuggling match in Luna.

So we decided not to do birthday parties during covid, but I did tell Annika she could have a couple friends over to play in the backyard. And then I thought that I should have some stuff for them to do. Next thing you know we've planned a birthday party. The idea was that we would catch up on all the things we had missed due to covid in 2020.

The girls took turns revealing the activities/holidays missed.

So they dyed easter eggs.

And decorated pots to plant mums for Earth Day.

We did chips and salsa and a pinata for Cinco de Mayo (masks doubling to cover eyes while swinging).

Naomi made the covid pinata and was very proud of it.

There were field day games and an ice cream truck for the last day of school.

And a serious water fight since we missed the pool all summer!

It's so nice to have some normalcy for these kids...

All the things and a wet happy kid.

Went on a hike to Blue Lake with my friend Liz.

And a quick date picnic dinner up Peak to Peak to catch the colors in their prime.

Celebrating Annika's birthday and Gator football with Colorado Harteminks. Oma made all the masks!

Happy tenth birthday!

And a hike with some of my favorite people.

Naomi's fall ballet showcase was filmed this year. Here she is with her two friends who danced with her.

And she was super excited to have a headshot in the program.

For my birthday Clifton and I went on an early morning hike.

...and then drove through the colors. I'm thankful that in a world that can feel so hard with politics and systemic racism and people getting sick and dying of covid, that seasons continue to turn and there are mercies new every morning.
