December 2021

Clifton's so happy to be racing again. Usually we run this one as a family and apparently we've been holding him back.

There's a drop in Sunday afternoon soccer game at a park nearby for anyone who wants to play, and this week there were no other kids. So here's Annika, just playing soccer with a bunch of 20 and 30 year old men. And they don't take it especially easy on her. Love this kid.

The only thing better than middle school choir concerts is masked middle school choir concerts.
(Naomi's on the far left edge, middle row.)

Christmas is coming!

Sarah was learning how to make bar graphs and came up with this beauty on her own. I have no idea what story it is supposed to tell but I took points off for her not knowing there is overlap between vodka and bloody mary.

Naomi had to submit a portrait portfolio for her digital art class.

So here we are looking like we're ready for senior pics.

Even Luna couldn't escape the fun.

Even though her last experience with basketball was in kindergarten (or first grade?), Annika decided to play intramural basketball this year. There were 11 teams of 10 and everyone was welcome and she had a blast.

Naomi catching up with her elementary school besties. The mamas got to catch up too 💓

Naomi and Ella ready for the Longmont Parade of Lights.

Naomi had the job of carrying the butt of the dragon through the windiest parade in some time.

The dragon is part of the Chinese Tea scene in the Nutcracker.

Love our (not so little) little town.

Just ignore the fact that you can literally see the toilet in our Christmas pics. :)

Hot cocoa and hymns with our friends at church.

I have about a million Nutcracker photos, so here are a few and I'll try to keep it short...

Naomi and her friend Lucy warming up during class before the performance.

It was pajama day.

Getting each other ready. This is such a sweet friendship.

She loved being in Snow this year. It's such gorgeous choreography.

With Lucy

Quick photo from the wings where I hang out to help with quick changes back stage and go through about a million bobby pins.

Naomi was in Danish and Lucy in Flowers.

Naomi was Flowers for finale. I didn't get a pic of her for Chinese Dragon...

Waiting backstage for finale

A small part of the cast celebrating the end of another year of Nutcracker. The last show is always emotional for them, especially for the seniors who may have been doing this since kindergarten, and being back on stage this year after a virtual performance last year made it extra special.

Naomi's school friends that came to the show

Mac and Clare were there too.

Dave and Val and the boys were there as always, and in the most fun surprise ever, Clifton's cousin Chelsea and her girls came to see it.

They drove from Texas and spent nearly as much time in the car (24 hours) as they did in Colorado! It was such a wonderful surprise! Someday I'll learn to be spontaneous like that.

A quick Christmas dinner together after the show.

The cousins (and axolotl)

Naomi celebrated the first day of her break by getting braces.

Luna turned three in December and got a sweater that we love more than she does.

Annika and her friend Rosie had an assignment over break to put on a concert.

Celebrating Amelia's birthday -- 15!!!

Christmas with the Parsons

Back home after the Christmas Eve service.

Luna opening her stocking

Matching Christmas pajamas

...and showercaps!

Christmas morning

The next day we drove to Oklahoma to see all of our friends and family there.

Uncle Clifton teaching Jack how to assemble a doll house.

Downtown Bartlesville

Ice skating with the whole crew

Travis never misses a chance to look cute.

Sarah and Jack

Nancy created an elaborate scavenger hunt for the kids.

And we celebrated Clifton and Lori's birthdays.

I can't wait to see this picture in ten years.

This is the building where Clifton's dad worked for 28 years.

And next door to it is a museum for the Philips company.

It's so cool because in the museum you can listen to an interview that was done with Clifton's dad, so the kids get to hear his voice with his Texas twang.

He's also quoted on this wall (as demonstrated by Naomi).

Cousins together!

Back at Grandma Clyde's the kids took advantage of the barn for using their new roller blades.

Naomi teaching Grandma Clyde how to make butterhorns.

Bonfires at sunset with JD.

And every time we go the girls insist on playing Pretty Pretty Princess because it's what we've done for at least a decade.

Swinging by the ol' alma mater.

Out with the whole crew to see Christmas lights.

We did a girls' night downtown which was so fun. I love these women.

Saying goodbye to Grandma Clyde and JD

And then to Canyon for a quick visit with Aunt Sara and Uncle Gary.

Finally home again, ready to take on 2022, a little older, hopefully a little wiser...
