Week Forty-two

Last Sunday afternoon Clifton and the big girls had fun playing at the pool...

...while Sarah and I sat in the shade...

...talked about life these days...

...and laughed at ourselves.

Sarah loves feeding herself these days.

Bananas are a favorite.

They almost always require an immediate bath.

...which is fine with her since she loves baths.

Isn't it awkward when you don't realize you have a big chunk of food on your face?

My technique for getting the girls to leave things in their hair is to expose them to things in their hair early. Which is hard to do for our kids who refuse to grow hair. But I do love these headbands...

Which reminds me of this favorite picture of Naomi we took when we were camping. For the record, Naomi was 17 months in this picture and probably about the size of Sarah at 9 months.

We watched Jeremy and Timothy this weekend while Dave and Val snuck away. We went downtown for a festival on Friday night. A couple things about this photo: Annika. The girl hates loud noises--vacuums, lawn mowers, trucks, bounce houses. This was a band playing in the background. Also, it's hard to know if we saw more looks of sympathy or confusion at what I'm sure most people thought were our five kids five and under.

Serious excitement over some body painting.

The cotton candy was a close second.

Jeremy isn't so sure about Annika and her kind of crazy.

Not the first time we've seen this look from one of the Hartemink boys towards their Railsback cousins.

Hahahaha! That last picture is hilarious! And Naomi is rocking that body art. Work it, girl! Also, those headbands are fantastic!
