June 2018

Just three girls headed to the pool. This is summer to me.

We went to a friend's house one evening for a graduation party for her son.

Guys, there were horses.

Honest to goodness, ride off into the sunset horses. The girls think we need some.

I'd settle for some chickens.

Miss Jessi graduated and came back to play with us! Best. Nanny. Ever. And a really dear friend.

June 8, 2018. 12 years ago on this spot on that day we decided to start this crazy life together. Officially.

We snuck away for a long weekend to Jackson, Wyoming thanks to Oma watching the girls.

I did a little learning about orthopedics, and Clifton did a little of this. The Economist and Harvard Business Review, but still.

In our time off, we re-explored Grand Teton NP, one of our favorites.

It's breath-taking, even for a Coloradoan who looks at mountains daily.

If you go, there's a fairly easy eight mile hike around Phelps Lake. Come prepared (we weren't) with a swimsuit because there is a huge boulder you can jump off of and have a 25 foot fall into the lake.

Clifton was in heaven to watch the NCAA track and field championships. This is what we are missing without cable. He even finds the 10000m race interesting. You know, the one that is so long they go to commercials? Yep, in his defense, a woman from KU won. So there's that.

The view from the front porch swing of the house we rented in Breckenridge with Clifton's cousin Chelsea and her family.

We had some rain, but still got in great hikes.

These girls had so much fun getting to know each other again.

We are finally at a stage where kids mostly just do their own thing. It's pretty awesome.

Because it frees up time for us to do this...

...while staring at a sunset like this.

We also spent time in town....

...where the kids panned for gold. There was an international gold panning competition going on while we were there. It's a thing.

And of course the obligatory ski town photo. Now if only we can find the oversized Adirondack chair.

Riding the gondola

Different day, different hike on Sawmill Trail

The payoff was a beautiful lake where the girls set dandelions off to float while we had lunch.

A long day of hiking calls for ice cream

...and a hot tub!

..where making George Washington hair never gets old. (George Washington is offended.)

Fathers day fruit pizza, designed to look like a dad. That's a tie. Squint a bit longer and you'll see it. It's like one of those magic eye posters. Just pretend you see it then, like everyone else did.

These dads were all kinds of loved on Father's Day.

Sarah's always mooching a ride with someone... Those boys put up with them so well.

Showing off her serious magnadoodle skillz to Lennon. He's not impressed. He's seen better.

Lots of playing around the house.

And the second cousin picture... So much fun!!

And a last day spent with Miss Jessi

We could not love you more, Jess!! Do what you've gotta do and get back to Colorado!

And a couple random pics from the month. Annika as Dumbledore. Duh.

Naomi did her first escape room, and actually escaped!!

And we'll close with what happens when your kids think they are funny after you tell them to put on some clean underwear.
